SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Selinsgrove Speedway has released its schedule of events, featuring 22 races from March to September as the track celebrates its 75th anniversary season.
Among the diverse calendar are nine nights of 410 sprint car action and 18 dates overall that feature sprint car or Silver Crown racing on the card.
To commemorate its 75th year of auto racing, the oval will stage a special 75th Anniversary Race exactly 75 years from the date of the very first race ever run at Selinsgrove on July 20, 1946.
The special Tuesday commemorative event will feature the track’s top two divisions in its lengthy history, the 410 sprint cars and the super late models.
The special night of racing will be one of nine total nights of 410 sprint car racing, between winged and non-winged competition, slated to take place at the track next year.
In addition, the 360 sprints (both winged and wingless) will compete in eight events, as will the 305 sprints.
The first show of the season for the 410 sprint cars will hit the track as part of the March Madness event on Sunday afternoon, March 28, alongside the super late models.
Other big 410 sprint events dot the new slate from beginning to end.
The track will host the Ray Tilley Classic for the sprint cars on Sunday, April 25 before July 4 plays host to the Pennsylvania Speedweek finale – the Jan Opperman-Dick Bogar-Ralph Heintzelman Memorial – paying $7,500 to win as part of the 75th season celebration.
For just the second time in history, the non-winged USAC 410 sprint cars will visit the track on Thursday, June 17 as part of the USAC Eastern Storm mini-series, paying $6,000 to win.
Back for the second year in a row, the Summer Championship for the 410 sprint cars will be spun off on Saturday, July 24 as part of Armed Forces Appreciation Night.
The 41st annual Jack Gunn Memorial, again this season being staged for 410 sprint cars, is planned for Saturday, Aug. 28.
Headlining the back half of the year, the National Open Qualifier for the 410s is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 5 before the $20,000-to-win, 39th annual Jim Nace Memorial National Open for the sprint cars climaxes the season on Sept. 25.
Highlights for winged 360 sprint cars at the track in 2021 include the Lucas Oil ASCS Battle of the Groves on May 1, the URC Kramer Kup on June 5, the Patriot Sprint Tour Whitcomb Memorial on June 12 and the 21st annual National Open paying $5,075 to win on July 10.
Special USAC East Coast wingless 360 action is slated for May 22, as well as the USAC Eastern Storm date on June 17 for the non-winged 410 sprint cars.
USAC’s premier open-wheel division, the USAC Silver Crown Champ Car Series, will also race at Selinsgrove next year as part of the Bill Holland Classic on Sunday, Aug. 8.
The second running of the Bill Holland Classic for Silver Crown cars, honoring the very first winner at the track back in 1946, will again go 75 laps in distance while paying $8,075 to the winner, keeping with the track’s 75th anniversary theme.
Family Night racing programs featuring free student admission are scheduled for May 22 and June 26, with kids bicycle and big wheel racing also planned for the late June program.
Senior Citizens Night and a Kids Money Scramble is slated for June 5.
